    As the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) approaches, we're excited to share details about a must-attend side event hosted by RESPIN. Mark your calendars for the 22nd of October at 15:00 and join us at Plaza One, Cocora, within the Subnational and Local Authorities meeting room, for an engaging and insightful session: ''Foster Science-Policy Interfaces around biodiversity and climate change''.

     

    What to Expect

    This event will offer a deep dive into how the assessments conducted by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) can support better governance and science-policy dialogue on biodiversity and climate policy globally and nationally. Through a series of presentations and panel discussions, we aim to showcase the critical role of IPBES and IPCC outcomes in enhancing the efforts of the CBD and the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF) at the national policy level. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the RESPIN project’s objectives, initial actions and strategies for engagement, as well as a landscape analysis aimed at addressing the challenges faced by knowledge holders and users.

    Presentations:

    Yves Zinngrebe and Hannah Korinth from The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) will share invaluable insights and provide a coherence analysis of IPBES and IPCC assessments. 

    Panelists: 

    Carlos Adolfo Hernández Mercado from The Humboldt Institute will highlight experiences from Colombia.

    Mylor Ngoy Shitcha from the University of Lubumbashi (UNILU) will provide perspective on experiences from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

    Ana Maria Hernandez Salgar, Former IPBES Chair, will discuss the synergies between IPBES and IPCC.

    Axel Paulsch will reflect on Policy Impacts of IPBES and IPCC in various countries.
