In an upcoming RESPIN workshop at the European Commission, our focus will be on understanding how to better apply the key findings from the recent IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment in the Commission's work.
The workshop is scheduled for April 15 and aims to enhance the integration of international scientific knowledge within the European Commission. It will address the challenges of incorporating findings from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) as well as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) into EU-level policymaking. By emphasizing the effective contextualization of these scientific insights, the workshop seeks to strengthen synergies between climate and biodiversity policies.
Using the IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment as a practical case study, participants will explore:
- How businesses both depend on and impact biodiversity.
- Ways the EU can create an enabling environment for businesses to contribute to a just and sustainable future.
- Opportunities presented by the forthcoming EU Science Service for Biodiversity to support policy officers with scientific knowledge.
This workshop is part of RESPIN’s broader mission related to the integration of IPBES and IPCC processes into both public and private decision-making.
Make sure to follow the RESPIN page for updates on this workshop's outcomes.
